An explanation of the Council's shift to Eventbrite as our event signup tool.
Many of you who have participated in Council events so far this year will have noticed that we have moved to using Eventbrite to manage our event registration and attendance tracking. Since this shift results in a small additional effort on your part in the form of registering for a free Eventbrite account, we wanted to offer a brief explanation of the reasoning behind this change.
Using Eventbrite allows participants to self-register for outings, which frees up a significant amount of Council staff time previously dedicated to manually tracking registrations submitted via email or phone. It also allows us to collect registration fees for paid events up front, instead of tracking payments received through the mail or in person on the day of an event. We can now create emails to all registered attendees with the click of a mouse, as well as check participants in at events on our phones. In short, this change allows us to spend less time on administrative tasks and focus more of our effort on furthering improvements throughout the Mill Creek watershed.
Please be aware that in keeping with the goal of using staff time more effectively, we are regrettably unable to offer refunds for paid events. Please also note that for any paid event, the fee is due up front upon signing up for that event.
We look forward to seeing you at our events this year and thank you in advance for your patience with us as we streamline our registration process!
