The Mill Creek Restoration on the West Fork Mill Creek (WFMC) in the Village of Woodlawn is one of the most visible and publicly accessible reaches of the stream in this area. It’s adjacent to the Woodlawn Elementary School, a large public park and a National Guard Armory, all connected by a multi-use trail. If you’re still pondering, ‘where in the world is the Mill Creek,’ this is the project for you.
During the course of this improvement project, three acres of invasive species, primarily bush honeysuckle, were removed from the banks of the WFMC. Bank stabilization work was done on three stormwater outfalls, which will decrease erosion and sediment pollution.
